Select Company Screen

You next select a stock to analyze using the Select Company screen.  This screen will appear automatically after you have opened a portfolio.  You can also click the Select Menu bar option at any time to access this screen.  Stocks can also be selected by entering either the abbreviation for the stock (called the �ticker symbol,�) or the company name.

The stocks shown in the stock table will be just those in the portfolio you have selected using the Open Portfolio screen. If you have not selected a portfolio, all stocks in the database will be shown.

To select a stock by its ticker symbol

Click the By Ticker bullet if it is not already selected.

To select a stock by its company name

Click the By Company bullet if it is not already selected.

To clear the text input box

Press the Esc key.

To select a stock using the keyboard

Type the ticker symbol or company name on the keyboard.  NO CURSOR WILL FLASH.  The letters you type will appear in the text input box.  You can use the Backspace key to erase the last letter typed, or the Esc key to erase all letters from the text input box.  As you type, the closest matching stock will be highlighted in the stock table.  You can stop typing as soon as the stock you want is highlighted - even if you have not yet typed its full company name or ticker symbol. Click the OK button to finalize your selection,  close this screen and open the Analysis screen.

To select a stock using your mouse

Drag the scroll bar on the right side of the stock table to get close to the stock you want. (Dragging means left-click and hold the mouse button down while you move the scroll bar to a new position.)  Click the up or down arrows on the top and bottom of the scroll bar to get to the exact stock you want.   Double-click the stock so that its code appears in the text input box.  Even if you have highlighted the stock you want, its ticker symbol or company name must appear in the text input box before the stock can be selected. Click the OK button to finalize your selection, close this screen, and open the Analysis screen.
